Varamobaden

4km sand beach with crystal clear fresh water. Longest fresh water beach in Europe located at Motala with statistically 80 more hours of sunshine than the rest of the hinterland. Very family friendly. If you want to get away from the crowds on a hot summer's day. Easy to reach by bike, car and bus. The beach is long with fine white sand and it is shallow which is good for the little children. Nice place to spend the whole day. Many places to eat and drink at near the beach

A day in paradise

This incredible bay really offers the feeling of being on a tropical paradise beach. The sand is fine-grained silky smooth, Lake Vättern's clear water glistens turquoise in the sun and the soft, wavy sandy bottom is shallow with occasional stones.

" This long, clean and family friendly beach with very shallow water is a great place to visit. The water " Vättern" is very cold but clean and for kids who stay in the shallow water it's totally ok "

About Varamobaden

Foto: Lena Hallberg

Varamobaden has been a concept associated with Motala and Vättern for more than 100 years. The heyday of the bath was in the 1930s and the area was very prosperous until the 80s. The explanation can be said to be that Varamobaden fit in well with the inter- and post-war period's demand for simpler bathing excursions.
